CENOTES.The purifying legacy of the Maya.

Crystal clear waters, sweet and deep, purifying and healing. The cenotes were considered as source of life and are unique in the Península of Yucatán y Quintana Roo.

Going through the Riviera Maya and not venturing into its wildest and lush side to find the heart of the jungle would be an unforgivable mistake. These imposing reserves of water contained in authentic caves that the same rain or underground currents formed when their domes collapsed and leaving fascinating spaces that we can enjoy to swim and dive … is an authentic gift of the Mayan Gods!

Across the peninsula there are hundreds of them; there are open air, in caves, in cavern and semi-open. Each one, although in its essence is the same, they keep a proper form that will make you experience a spectacular sensation.

The crystalline waters of an intense turquoise blue, its majestic stalactites and stalagmites will not disappoint you. The waters are cool and crystal clear that will allow you to see the species that live in this ecosystem, in some you can even see nice turtles, eels and beautiful fish that will convey a beautiful serenity.

The cenotes were of great importance to the ancient Maya of the area who used the cenote to throw virgin women in sacrifice to satisfy the God of rain. Today it becomes an ideal place to let your imagination fly and meet yourself and your ancestors.

Some cenotes are enabled for tourism and have great access, facilities with railings, platforms to accommodate, ropes to hold and rest while swimming and travel its wide and deep spaces safely.
